GUITARS FOR HAITI - SOUTH WALES FREAK SHOW ALL DAY MUSIC BENEFIT GIG #2 FOR THE UNICEF HAITI AND DOMINICAN REPUBLIC EMERGENCY FLOOD APPEAL
As a direct response to the human catastrophe following the hurricane and floods in Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the underground music scene of South Wales has joined forces in an attempt to raise money for people suffering incredible hardships in the region. Many individuals have come together to organise an emergency all-day music event in Newport.
Following the huge success of the first emergency benefit gig in February of this year, raising a staggering £1800 for the UNICEF Children Of Iran Emergency Appeal, the organisers decided that it was time for round two.
South Wales Freakshow - Guitars For Haiti will take place on Sunday July 25th 2004 at The Legendary TJ's, Clarence Place, Newport. It will include live performances from a whole host of local, national and international bands, of many different underground musical styles.
This time, bands from further afield have been drafted in for the cause, as well as local underground acts. Scraps And Heart Attacks (New York City), The Dauntless Elite (Leeds), Jets Vs Sharks (Portsmouth), Pilger (Southampton), as well as South Wales' own; Four Letter Word, Taint, Viva Knievils, This System Kills, UCA Chapter, Resplendant, Stand Down and State Run.
There will be a charity raffle, halfway through the day at 6.15pm, where a huge amount of music and associated merchandise will be given out as prizes, as well as other fundraising throughout the day.
All proceeds from the day's events will go to the UNICEF HAITI AND DOMINICAN REPUBLIC EMERGENCY FLOOD APPEAL.
