    Sick Of Silence Tour/CD

Subject. The Sick Of Silence Tour/ Compilation CD.

Following on from the success of the ‘Consequences Of Our Actions Tour’ around South Wales venues in February 2003, Bridgend based Cunning Stunt Promotions have again teamed up with Rhondda Valleys based underground label Poisoned Whiskey Records, to organise another tour, this time an 8 date jaunt around South Wales, due to start on the 18th of March at the Tollhouse in Bridgend. ‘The Sick Of Silence Tour’, will also be accompanied by a 17 track compilation CD (of the same name), which has been produced to showcase some of the amazing bands currently tearing up the Welsh underground scene. The CD will be a joint release between Poisoned Whiskey, and the recently formed valleys based Probation Records.
The tour and CD come at a time when the underground rock scene in South Wales is at it’s most vibrant. With new promoters, Venues, Labels and an ever-increasing flood of new bands springing up in the valleys and in and around Newport and Cardiff, the underground rock scene is about to explode. Both Poisoned Whiskey and Probation Records are committed to supporting this ever increasing scene, and felt that a compilation encompassing some of the awesome bands from different areas was a must. So along with Cunning Stunt, they have put together the Sick Of Silence Tour and CD. Here’s a list of the bands that will feature on the CD compilation.
Midasuno, Douglas, The Take, Bedford Falls, Pete’s Sake, Panel, Wishinghour, The NextNineYears, Flailing Wail, DaCapo, Mombomb, Dopamine, Emily All Over, Noquenda, When Reason Sleeps, Flyscreen, and Venus Elixir.

Some of the bands from the CD will team up with up and coming acts for the tour. Two dates of the tour will also be coinciding with the One World Beat charity weekend, with all profits from the two shows going to the Keep A Child Alive, the AIDS relief charity fund.

The Sick Of Silence compilation will be available for purchase from any of the shows on the tour. The CD will be officially launched in April and will receive UK wide distribution from Shellshock.
Here's an advanced review from Sondnation Magazine who gave it Album Of The Month.

    Various Artists
    SICK OF SILENCE
    Poisoned Whiskey/Probation

This 17 track compilation is notable for a few reasons, not least because it marks the colaboration between two of South Wales' leading labels in bringing together some of the brightest talents in the country's burgeoning rock scene. No wonder the UK's media has it's eyes on the next big thing from Wales after Lostprophets and Funeral For A Friend, given the overall standard on display here.
Panel's 'Waiting For An Excuse' stands head and shoulders over most things here, a stunning monolith of interwined guitars and Quicksand-esque melodic fury. But the likes of Douglas, Dopamine and The Take run them close with a similar brand of ultra-tuneful UK hardcore. Then theres the delicious introspective slow-core of Bedford Falls, all minor key and brooding guitar lines. If these are the premier league tunes, then Division 1 is populated by the likes of Pete's Sake with 'Crash And Burn' , 'When Reason Sleeps' The Complete Guide To An Awkward Start' and The NextNineYears' 'The Science Of Military Opperations'.
Out of the number of scene compilations that Soundnation has reviewd over the last 3 years; Sick Of Silence is the best by a country mile: Flailing Wail, Midasuno, DaCapo, Wishinghour, Mombomb, Noquenda, Emily All Over and Flyscreen bolster the CD with serious quality.

Good Tour! must've taken u ages to write that message tho. thro in some 'fun' punk/ska stuff like HeadShot, Festerin Nun and Mook and it would be complete. Got to get a plug in wherever i can ha ha. Miner's line up could do with a few more bands....hint hint !

Sorry Geeky boy, The promoters at the venues gave us the number of bands we could take, so there's no slots.

I gotta say, The Sick of Silence CD is awesome - the free one I got with it, not quite as much - the songs don't mesh but thats nowt to do with Poisoned Whiskey is it?

Nah man, Thats a New deal for musicians demo cd. I managed to scam 100 coppies to give away free with the Sick Of Silence comp, so that you get a bit more for your money. Then again, we're selling our comp for £3.50, and thats 17 tracks, which is pretty cheap.
Anybody think that this is too expensive?
