Thread: places to record

okay. The band have always said how it would be nice to record things etc and since we're making big steps forward in terms of a new line up and getting things going i think it's necessary for a demo to be recorded. not just for our own benefit and enjoyment but also for people to get to know our sound and because in many situations a demo is the best way to get a gig quick!

now to get to the point: if people can post the places they've been, the costs, what they got for their money and what they thought overall of the end product then it would help us in deciding the best place to start things off.

BTW- i lost my voice on Saturday- it wasn't pretty (Steve can tell you) but hopefully i'll return to normal soon (with the help of amoxycillin) and the sexy jazz voice will be kept on hold for special occasions only

Big Black Dog Studios in Blackwood. We recorded the four songs for PBE there for a hundred quid (I can put you in touch with Ian if you want).

Also, my cousin has just refurbished his studio in Blackwood with a 16 track digital desk. Dunno how much he'll charge. His old analogue one was decent but we can let you know about the new one cos we plan to go over and test it out,

If you wanna spend a bit more (about 200), Warwick Hall of Sound in Cardiff. We recorded If you wanna die and Roulette there and they kinda speak for themselves.

fanku- i think at the moment it's got to be about the hundred mark- we ain't got any money for 'the band' cos we ain't done any gigs or anything obviously so we're paying out of pocket.

Strongly advise that u wait and go to Warwick - 200 benjamins, recording qaulity was top, and engineer was safe as ten bears

Immtech, Cardiff can be good as long as you have the right engineer. Ask for Ross Caple or Will to engineer. Immtech are normally very cheap and those 2 guys are really good.
