To the p-rock viewers,
Well folks sorry we have disappeared from your TV screens but we made a decision to come off air today to "regroup and plan for a re-launch". Unlike some rumours that originally circulated on our inception we were not some big corporate entity, we really were 3 geezers with absolutely no previous TV experience running Punk Rock DIY TV.
Against all odds we got the station up and running and more importantly got the viewing figures even we couldn't believe....so for our detractors....sorry there is a Punk Rock audience out there as the 600,000 viewers proved (source BARB...so no bullshit!) and was averaging 42% of Kerrang TV figures. No matter how much the "p-rock haters" and our enemies want to deny it!
So why did we come off air?.....Simple we started this to prove a point that there was an audience for this kind of music...which we undoubtably proved. But we couldn't believe how long it took the advertising agencies to acknowledge that we actually existed, let alone book ads (there are some very notable exceptions to that...you know who you are and thanks for your support). You have to remember we were really the snarling upstarts of British TV who knew nothing about TV other than we were TV viewers (best credentials?) who came out of nowhere and didn't play the TV game and actually dared to get excellent viewing figures at the same time, which were higher than some other channels (not just music) who were launched to fanfares, lavish launch parties and obscene marketing budgets!!...just like the Sex Pistols back in 1976 it seemed we put a lot of noses out of joint...... just for running a Punk Rock TV channel!!
We plan to be back on air as soon as we have sorted out refinancing and organising a better infrastructure...because we now know how to do it properly!...so keep your eyes peeled to this site which will shortly include a news page, gig list and some other pages that will be regularly updated to keep you informed on what is going on in the scene while we are off air. There will also be some special pieces written by some of the bands we have featured. Next week should also see the start of our very own chat room where we look forward to your views and opinions. To make sure you are updated on news on the website and our re-launch subscribe to our mailing list.
Unbelievably it's still upwards and onwards!!
Thanks for your support.
