    Summer Update!!!

    Word the fuk up yo!!!

I just checked an the last time i posted something in here was july 28th, bout fukkin time i updated it an let ya'll know whats goin on in the world of cornerstone (mainly)

However, after last year of winning the welsh final of the Emergenza BOTB, we went on 2 play the London Astoria and lost boooo. But, it was an amazing experience and got loads of coverage and extremely valuable feedback and critcism from major labels etc!

Then the results came for our A levels, and our saxaphone player didnt get into cardiff........so all that has gone out the window.

Generally were a bit lost and all finding our feet in university and shit.

We still play plenty of gigs, but most are generally covers gigs in pubs and clubs to make money, rather than playing all of our own stuff

Its incredibly frustrating to come so far and then just sort of fizzle out and not do anything really musically satisfying. I love playing live so that fills a hole sort of..but it doesnt if that makes sense

Anyways sorry sounds a bit like im whinging a bit there, i just wanted to say that

SUMMER IS HERE or sort of here, its the months in which we used to have summer but now have patches of cloud rain and some occasional sun..

The saxaphone man is back, and were hoping to release a new EP/min Album full of new Material by the end of August. Were still finding our feet again but are playing several shows so i shall update when nescessary.

Were playing Caerphilly Rugby Club on the 5th July after 6:30

And also on the 25th JULY! Were playing the Premiere of the SUSAN BALAKA Film in Ebbw Vale Collesium Thingy... :P

I will put up proper dates of gigs and shit in another forum, i just wanted to let everyone know what were doing and if anyone has any views or suggestions on what to do...tha wud be great

im really looking to get involved with as much new music as possible, i sing, i play guitar, i play bass, i can play the drums a bit...

Im just a bit musically frustrated and lost..

Thanks for reading and Take it easy everybody!!

I had a similiar experience with the Firebrand, maybe not on the same level but there was a month period where things were exciting felt like things were really moving, but the battle of the bands final was a small spanner in the works lol (they can be pretty demoralising). Now in a new group trying to do more Flaming Lips style music, but its hard. So how many instruments can u play exactly then Legoman?

im thinking of starting a movie critic band dude, get a bunch of us together, go and watch a film, decide whether its shite or awesome... then write a song about it in rhyming structure. it would more than likely be 5 chord punk, but a shredding guitar solo would be nice

hahahaha sounds like a good solid basis for writing music, always have a constant source for information and material..

i like the sounds of it.

im trying to develop my piano playing, rather than just using it as an ends to a means with shit like reason.

i want to play in a band with loads of vocal harmonies and a proper harmonic sound. like if you listen to a temptations track, the amount of vocal layers and just sound is immense and really hits notes with me.

so im trying to do more singing, i will set up a myspace page soon with some of the stuff i been doing on my own.

i can sort of play the trombone a bit, but tha was short lived.

i shall browse the myspace now elliot!

your family should do like a barritone barbershop quartet kind of thing

only trouble is though. there would probably be so much power and bass that it would blow peoples heads off...

    so... yeah! do it!!

Unfortunatly thats how The Welsh Music Scene is! I have realised it over the last couple of years!

It's a cruel, hard and luck orientated buisness to get into to. You really do need to be at the right place at the right time. I'm sure we all thought (Fuck me things are going well, i can see us getting a deal soon, wey hey!), And then it just does'nt happen, the people you need to impress just do not pay attention because the don't see the pound signs or your knocking the wrong door. We made that mistake.

Thats why im doing Radio in Uni cos it's very close to new music and i get to be one the bastards who decide to plug you or not lol!! And i love it!

Im enjoying what me and Dozz are doing (Clay Statues) cos i love playing live and we have done suprisingly well so far but it does not bother me whether you will see on the front of NME or not, i could not give a toss!

Ive noticed there has been a little dry pathc in South Wales for new music but it is still there. I think now is the time for people to really start working on new ORIGINAL material but more importantly have fun doing it!

    yeah man i am.

hahaha we have thought about some sort of vocal trip thingy oxo style, wen ur dad had the belle for the week and done a gig in there ages ago we done some trio singing hahaha

we shall see, the old man dont do groups any more does he, twat head :P

Yeh love all the harmonies on the old beach boys stuff, i find it easier to work stuff out on piano, does tha make any sense?

like figure out a basic melody for the track, add in a falsetto voice, and then search for harmonies on the piano, cos its easier to work it in theory than just standing there blasting out random shit.

Yeh tha makes sense, sometimes I need to have a lil go on a keyboard to figure something out, but sometimes I just need my guitar depends on the track suppose. Do you do any home recording then I've setting up a mini studio for the last year tis starting to look gd lol.

Mavis man nice to see you back on here.

Yeh man i do quite a bit, mainly for uni work, but i do loads of fuck around stuff aswell.

Once i get my pc up and running again, i shall post a myspace with all the tracks ive done.

The thing with piano its just like theory laid out in front of you in an easy to read format, and you can use different sounds with reason an shit, so gives me more scope than just a guitar..

    Also to add were playing

Sunday August 17th @ The Cricket Club (Pentrebach)

    with

    One Hot Puppet

    &
