chris - for that i used pro tools 7.3.1,m box 2 and a shure sm57 for the guitar and the same mic but with a SIV (yes the kitchen appliance) as a pop shield,as im too tight to buy one!hahaha

All shure mics have a horrible low mid boom (200hz). You can hear it on that acoustic recording even. Fucking cunting shure!! Nice track Piepiepiepiepie.

yeah, their alright for micing cabs and snares though I've found. i've been using a shure PG81 (i think) for the acoustic in the house, thats not bad, but the pres on my desk arent the bst, hence why i bought the firepod, all should bebetter now!

Just use more than one mic / mic position. Acoustics are totally about where you put the mic. I either like to use an x/y pattern if I have nice mics available or if not a good solid dynamic near the soundhole (angled more toward the bass end of the soundhole) and then whatever else you have (pref condenser) up the neck nearer the nut. Obey phase rules obviously. Give it a bash. If you don't have two mics, multitrack it.

Nah, got a few decent mics... i've been micing a condenser around the 12th fret, and a dynamic in between the soundhold and the bridge of the guitar. my acoustic is bassy as fuck and soudns gash with a mic on the soundhole
