FREE FOR ALL!!!!! the coal exchange closing party.

thats right folks, we are losing the best venue in wales. it's being turned into luxury apartments. can you fucking believe it!

we have decided to give the place the send off it deserves by throwing a massive FREE PARTY.

we have a 20k soundsystem in the main hall (1000 capacity) and will have 10 bands that we love to play for your pleasure.

in room 2 theres a 3k rig, with the finest dance promoters of cardiff taking the controls.

confirmed to play main arena so far are:

SICKNOTE
CAKEHOLE PRESLEY
TOP SHELF JAZZ
TATTSYRUP
NINJAH

plus many more to be confirmed,....

thats this saturday 15th september in cardiff's stunning coalx.

how do we do it for free?

um, well, we havent worked that one out yet.

what we need is for you to spread the word... bring as many people as you can, and if everyone chucks in £2 into the buckets we have going round, then we might actually be able to pay for it!

all bands and djs have agreed to play for free, so we just got to cover PA costs and flyers.

we need £1500.

HELP US OUT and SUPPORT OUR FREE PARTY.

say goodbye to the coal x

SEE YOU THERE!!!!
xxxx

lol i didn't bother reading the full ppost but 1.5k for a pa is ludicrous
but advertising it for free and asking for donations is a bit cheeky lol

Well it all depends on what the rig is. If it's a Line array then fair enough. Though why you'd need anything like that there is beyond me. We stopped measuring rigs in K's in the mid 90's. Hahaha. My ''4.2K'' system goes out for about 140 and my "7K" goes out for around 300. The '7K' is more than twice as loud as the other one. It also sounds way better. The amp output in watts (''k's'') has nothing to do with sound pressure level the speakers put out (ear bleed).

This is a pet peeve of mine (and many other sound nerds).

Who is hiring the rig to you? Out of interest . I'm not having a go. Just wondering what sort of rig for the coal exchange warrants that sort of price tag.

Are you getting the Ethos system or a stacking system for that price? Seems pricey for my liking, though it may be 4 stacks. Did you shop around for quotes? AB acoustics have done the coal X a lot and REES sound in carmarthen are good guys too.

Good luck with this. Shame to see the coal X be completely nobbed up.

Gigsta has disabled reputation
get with the programme people

money is boring, good faith and donations is the way forward init

people are so nosy delving into details how rude!

the way I see it is there is a big party and it's FREE, there will be loads of cool bands there and if we enjoy and feel the love we will chuck £2 towards the good times. why complicate things further!?

why do people always end up being negative on ere, for fuck sake like, who gives a fuck if the coal xchange is the best in wales or the shittyest in wales, who gives a fuck if youe heard of the bands or not, who gives a fuck how much the pa is gonna cost. Take some time out of boring days, do a bit of research into the guys who put the shows on, into the bands that are playing, then understand its a free for all 11 hr party with a mutual bunch of music loving party going freaks that love a good time.

now if you not into loving all styles of music, or love a tipple or 10 of alcohol, or letting go of yourself or are just a plain boring ole fuck, then please do us a favour stay away from this gig.

just trying to save someone a grand or so... oh well...

I also find the p.a. spec more interesting than the gig.
