    ATTENTION BANDS AND MUSIC FANS!!!

Hello! (If all goes according to plan)

This October myself and another associate are set to organise an OXJAM2007 Concert at the Visitors centre at the country park in Aberdare!.

All proceeds are going to OXJAM Obviously and is sponsered by MTV FLUX! The plan is to record your bands set and can be uploaded on the MTV FLUX Webpage to be broadcast on the MTV Channel itself!

I will be meeting the manager of the Visitors centre very soon to confirm a date, We have a strong enough PA but currently looking for an adaptable stage which will hopfully be resolved soon! The courtyard itself could hold upto 200/250 people? who knows? this has not happened before!

OXJAM CARDIFF will help us out but at the end of the day we need bands that will garuantee to bring people and as much musch support to make this possible and to raise as much money as we can!

No bands have been confirmed but I am looking for all genres!

I want to cater for all! We also have an acoustic warm up show planned the week before to get the ball rolling a bit!

A Seperate myspace page will be set up as soon as we get permission and a confirmed date! But if you are interested in playing then drop off a link here or to www.myspace.com/mavisboy

    Thank you my loves!

    Oxjam Festival in South Wales - 1st - 31st October 07

Oxjam Music Festival in South Wales

Bands, DJs, musicians and music fans will be getting together this October at Oxjam Music Festival events across South Wales, to raise money for Oxfam.

Oxjam 2007 is Oxfam’s biggest, most ambitious music festival to date. Oxjam is a grassroots music festival comprising of thousands of music events, taking place across the UK, throughout October. Oxjam took place for the first time in 2006, and was a huge success, raising £500,000 for Oxfam. This year, the festival is going to be even bigger, Around 40,000 musicians and an audience of 300,000 nationwide are expected to take part in Oxjam 2007, making it the biggest music festival ever in the UK. The festival is aiming to raise over £1 million for Oxfam’s work worldwide.

To launch Oxjam 2007 in South Wales, on Monday October 1st, Oxjam will be holding Oxjam Cardiff Bus-kathon. An Oxjam open-top bus, with free live performances on board will travel around Cardiff City Centre, picking up the audience on the way. Local bands The Low Lights and The Moving Lights will play acoustic performances using a special Oxjam guitar, which will then travel around Britain, being played at various Oxjam events, in The Great Oxjam Guitar Relay. After being played at Oxjam Cardiff Bus-kathon, the guitar will move on to an as-yet secret location, to be played at a special Oxjam celebrity launch event.

The Oxjam bus will begin its journey at mid-day outside the entrance to CardiffCastle, but people will also be able to join the Bus-kathon at Park Place at 12:15pm. People who ride the Oxjam bus will not only be able to enjoy the free performances, but will also have the chance to win a pair of tickets to XFM’s Winter Wonderland Concert in Cardiff, donated by XFM South Wales, which is sure to be the ‘must-see’ gig this winter.

The launch Bus-kathon will kick off a fantastic programme of Oxjam events held in South Wales throughout October, all organised by local Oxfam volunteers, featuring a diverse range of musical styles. Highlights include:

    • 2nd October - Oxjam’s Oxfete at The Point, CardiffBay.
Colin Francies, XFM South Wales Brand Ambassador, and lead singer of Cardiff band The New 1920 will compere a village fete-themed night, featuring an amazing line up of local bands, including The Hot Puppies and The Spencer McGarry Season. There will also be stalls selling cakes, books and clothes.

    • 9th October: Oxjam @ Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff
With The Jan Watkins Band + Silence at Sea + The Moving Lights

    · 26th October: Oxjam @ Tom’s Bar, Trefforest. 7pm.
Oxjam’s fancy dress, pre-Halloween Party - featuring indie, rock and metal bands including Her Portrait in Black + My Favourite Accident + AudioCanvas.

    · 28th October: Oxjam’s Halloween Party @ Barfly, Cardiff.
A Rocky Horror-themed fancy dress gig, with live bands including The Rebecca Riots, and live burlesque performances.

Colin Francies, XFM South Wales Brand Ambassador and lead singer in Cardiff band The New 1920, said of the festival:

"Oxjam!! What better way to raise money for Oxfam! This event will help raise awareness of the charity itself and contribute towards ending poverty. All this whilst having fun, getting involved and seeing some great music!"

October 1st will also see the UK-wide launch of Oxjam Festival. Stars including Fatboy Slim, The Kooks and Jarvis Cocker will play a series of exclusive performances in a specially converted Oxfam shop, in an as-yet secret location. People in South Wales can win free tickets to attend any of the celebrity launch shows by entering online at www.oxfam.org.uk/oxjam/shopgigs or texting ‘Oxjam’ to 87099 before 24 September.

Many Oxjam events in South Wales will be filmed, with clips of artists’ performances being broadcast on MTV’s website. Users of MTV’s website will then be able to vote for the clips they like the best, with the most popular artists being filmed for MTV and getting to play live alongside the major acts supporting Oxjam (including Kasabian, The Kooks and The Kaiser Chiefs).
