Thread: Win tickets to see Miss Conduct

I am just emphasising that success can be defined by a number of things and I don't agree with Orgsey's formula of

'if your band = no success & Miss Conduct = success.
Then Miss Conduct > your band.'


I doubt underground bands would even consider playing with a band like Miss Conduct in venues like the barfly or the coke cola sponsored Full Ponty

More and more people are rejecting commercial and conventional music scenes in favour of music which is more genuine and truthful made by people who don't buy in to these capital systems governed by money. I don't think this is extreme in fact I think it's a smart move and it's more liberating and exciting.

at the end of the day you cant please everybody all the time......go into your local music store and theres thousands of acts/artists viing for everyones hard earnt cash so theres plenty of choice for everyone!..........but as with every decade theres a point when music in general becomes dull and repetetive before somethink fresh comes along, and this happens to be that time again. Amongst the dull My Chemical Romance/Lost Prophets clones there are decent fresh sounds out there........bands like Biffy Clyro will lead the way out of this boring phase in music me thinks......(but thats my opinion)

I didn't think posting a bit of news to advertise an unsigned bands show would cause so much debate.

Listen to the show and email in a debate it on air as thats the whole point of a show like showcase wales, to give bands that people haven't heard a chance.

Anyway (commercial bit) we have Jimi Alexander and the Satelites on the show Wednesday 23rd May and were giving away a pair of tickets for the Full Ponty. (If you dont like Miss Conduct there are other bands to see)

At the end of the day Bron I pretty much agree with that way of thinking. Although I prefer not to exclude myself from the horseshit, i'd prefer to stand neck deep in it and start shouting 'YUM'. To many there is no alternative. They should be shown otherwise.

I wasn't knocking them because i'm jealous of where they are, I knocked them because I dont like them.
Maybey knocking a band when your playing in a band yourself isn't the best thing to do, as you never know who your going to end up playing with or when your gonna a band to help you out. But, at the same time, I dont think I should have to keep my opinion to myself- because like you said, it's not fact, it's just an opinion. There's plenty of people who like them, and good luck to them for it I say, i'm just not one of their fans.


ooooh, and just in case they read this and think "that guys a cunt, fuck Freaky fortnight" i've not played with them for a while, so my opinions in no way represent that of Bron and Lee lol

Can i make it clear for the record it was one night, I was drunk and it didnt mean anything. Twm was however a very generous lover.

Theres been a million arguements like this for as long as i remember on DN. Iv never seen Miss Conduct so I cant say a good or bad word about them. My g/f sings one of there songs 24/7 for months when she hears it so they must be doing something a little bit right.

I do however understand a lot of the points made about the bands that have success. There is an arguement i subscribe to that talks about music being a soundtrack to life, something that means something to you and something u relate to on many levels. I have arguements about it to people close to me all the time. There are bands I listen to that I feel have integrity and write and perform music that is truley meaningful to them and from a place void of worrys of marketing, promotion or kerrang.

Its simple, some feel like this, others dont. Some get it and see music as a real and intergral part of what they are and others just see it as 'i like that song im gonna buy a t-shirt'. Which is fine, im not against it, iv always said if a band connects to just one person its done its job.

I do think its a valid point that was brought up that suggested kids are a lot better listening to Miss Conduct than dance music or something like that. They are musicans and perform and write their music, whether u like that music or not you cant deny they are a band.

People sit in hypocritical positions when it comes to integrity and 'real music'. I agree with twm, and i know what he means even if its impossible to describe. I know people who claim Kurt Cobain was this punk rock anti-conformist who was as far away from worries of success,etc,etc. But i cant fail to see the hypocrisy of Kurt Cobain talking of how he hates MTV and awards whilst doing an interview fot MTV at the MTV MUSIC AWARDS. Its a buisness, we all know that.

One more point. They sell more records and have more shows therefore they are better?

Totally spot on. Not all of us get every single song though. I mean take that have got some songs that i'm pretty sure mean a lot to gary barlow. Integrity? On a musical level hell yeah! Wearing a tight top and baby oil? Hmmm... but then if we were going to draw lines i'd have to bung most metal bands in with take that!

Personal integrity can never be judged. That's what is so good about it. I'm pretty sure Kim didn't just make up what she is singing about in her songs (I went and listened... and now i'm going to have to listen to queen or something to was them out of my head). Well maybe she did, but in that case she's a good observer!

Mate, I'm pretty sure he's not on your show. I was there like, he was in my bedroom when he wrote 'Cassie is a bitch' and is like a close personal friend/ best friend. I can 100 per cent say James Alexander Hackett will not be on your show.

I like the fact that in this day and age people still get smited for their opinions.
