The Full Ponty Fringe Festival, in association with Betan and Huw on Radio 1, are pleased to announce that American disco-punk heroes Head Automatica will play at the Muni Arts Centre on Thursday the 24th of May. The show is part of The Full Ponty fringe Festival 2007, and will be broadcast live on the Bethan and Huw show, on BBC Radio 1.
Head Automatica was born out of the unlikely pairing of legendary Glassjaw front man Daryl Palumbo and Gorillaz producer Dan the Automator. Their excellent debut album ‘Decadence’, appeared in late 2004, and with a with a bright and trashy mix of electronica and rock n roll, set Head Automatica apart from both their previous bands and their contemporise straight away.
Palumbo’s well documented battle with Crohn’s diseases has added the ‘will they, wont they’ tag to the band, with shows being cancelled at the last minute due to the singers incurable affliction. However, this has added an edge of excitement to Head Automatica, with fans so desperate to catch one of the leaders in the alt-punk field in action, that their rare shows are explosive! Dan the Automator left the band in 2006, with his departure pushing the Head Automatica sound towards good time guitar-pop, which saw them break on to the UK scene with the amazing ‘Beating Heart Baby’ in 2006.

One of the true icons of punk, Henry Rollins brings his critically acclaimed spoken word show to the Full Ponty Fringe Festival on the 25th of May. The former Black Flag singer will be performing at the Muni Arts Centre in Pontypridd as part of a diverse Full Ponty Fringe Festival 2007.
Having cut his teeth in the legendary Washington DC Hardcore scene of the early 1980’s, Henry Rollins came to prominence when he joined the iconic LA Hardcore Punks Black Flag as lead singer in 81, staying the course until their inevitable break up in ’86. He then went on to for his own Rollins Band, pushing the boundaries of onstage aggression as well as touring his spoken word performances around the word. With countless releases and DVD’s to his name, Henry Rollins continues to keep the spirit of Hardcore alive, attacking the system and social ills with the intensity of his youth, but the deep thoughtfulness of his adult years.
Henry Rollins performance at The Full Ponty Fringe Festival will be his only UK date. Tickets go on sale on Monday the 23rd of April and are available from the outlets below.
