Pop Factory...right venue for the BOTB's????????????

Been to a few heats now and other than the bands and their close circle of friends each heat has been virtually empty.......now last year the Black was pretty busy for MOST of the rounds/heats so i just think the Pop Factory was the wrong place to hold the event. Dont get me wrong its a great venue, its just in the middle of nowhere and most people are finding it hard to get there, have a drink and get home cause its in the sticks.......lets hope people start going and supporting the bands...(who put alot of effort in).....as we get closer to the final!

at the end of the day if the bands playing dont appeal to people they aint gonna go, dont take it personal at the end of the day at least some people turned up and you got a show out of it even if it was in front of your friends at least you got to play a good show in an awesum venue...

I think they're referring to the people up Aberdare or Merthyr way to be honest - it's a bit of a trek from there if your only option is taxi, especially for getting home - I certainly wouldn't consider it... It's hardly the most awe inspiring venue ever either (not that it's shit, because there's much shitter about).

yeh we went down an sound checked, an i think our sound was pritty good like.
however playing with 3 other bands who all have 2 guitarist made us sound a little thin wich is 2 be expected!

but people wise........ every band brought at least a few people with them but it wos obvious it wos just friends as ther wos 4 groups of tables lol!!!

still think its sweet chappers is doin stuff in the pop factory good fukkin effort!!

They could do with another room, so you can talk to people rather than shouting over shit metal bands.

I also think it's that time of year now where people are doing exams ect.. It's never going to be busy all the time.

As for the sound, it's the best venue I've ever had the luck to work in is the pop factory. Also it's great to be doing gig's in a place out of aberdare too, so a big thanks to everyone thats been coming to the gig's.

I went to cardiff uni lastnight to see The Rakes, the gig was put on in the night club as they only sold 500 tickets. The support band sounded ok but the sound for the rakes was real bad. Then last sunday saw the automatic (NME tour) and the sound was amazing!?!?

You allways get the odd bad gig no mater where you go.

    I don't believe that for a second.

People go to see bands these days because it's trendy/their mates band is playing. No one goes for the music anymore. And what does a gig matter if it was in front of your mates? You may as well have just played in your front room to them.

Some people do go to see the music, obviously. I hate sweeping statements.
