So what is happening with Me + Flailing Wail?
Without going into personal matters too much I'm finally up to a spot of light jamming, although am by no means "fully fit" by any stretch of the imagination. I have now officially been diagnosed with Primary Schlerosing Cholangitis and I've put it in my trophy cabinet alongside my Ulcerative Colitis. The combination of these two conditions basically mean that I have to be extremely careful with my general health as both will "flare up" making me extremely ill if I give them the chance. To this end I am following an extremely healthy (and restrictive) diet and cannot eat/drink anything processed, everything practically has to be home made. Obiously this restricts me and is one of the reasons why at the moment I am still finding my feet managing to jam with the guys and thinking about playing shows again. On the plus side I am now a gourmet chef and get along with gay people grand.
Music wise I've been busy writing a lot of tunesand have been jamming with carl a lot and occasionaly the other guys. There are around 9 or 10 (and growing by the day) brand new Flailing Wail tracks that it looks will be recorded and released as an album as soon as they have all been finalised and road tested. A couple of working titles for anyone who is interested... "These Words Hath Spread Enough", "Electronic Ilk", "This Cat Has All of Your tongues", "A Plague On All Your Houses (pt.1+2+3)" Beforeany of those sees the light of day however we still have the matter of our last "release" which never happened due to obvious catastrophes. I don't really want to talk to much about the new stuff as I'm not entirely sure where it's going, at the moment it seems to have a life of it's own and I don't think we've scratched the surface of this new material yet.
The plan I believe is to re-record the entire affairknown as "lines drawn in sand", as after listening back to it we realised how much we rushed it not to mention the drum tracks are now almost 2 years old and by no way show Stix to be the drummer that he is now. I was also rather disappointed with the vocals, which were recorded AS I was at my worst.
My best estimate for us returning to playing shows (barring any worsening of my health) would be around mid-late july, although I haven't spoken to the lads about this yet, it's just what my body is telling me. The "ep" will turn out to be whatever it is and will basically I suppose be a stepping stone to the "album". I'm imagining that there'll be a fair load of tracks on there though as we are planning to record pretty much everything we can play. Expect to definetely see "Astronoughts", "Tiananman Squared", "Exponents of The Abacus", and possibly "Willow Wired Woe", "Crosshair Caesarean" and "Cameo Agenda". That we have all the material to release two pretty big records is quite a strange feeling haha... and hopefully we'll get it right this time.
In the meantime I will make sure that all the old recordings are left up on myspace so you can go there and remind yourself what the hell this band sounds like! I do believe that we may also be doing a few select acoustic shows pretty soon, although wether it will just be myself and carl or the whole band remains yet to be seen.
