Thread: Bin Laden Issues New Threat to US

A pan-Arabic satellite channel has broadcast a tape by al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden on one of its evening newscasts.

The tape deals with the September 11, 2001, attacks on the United States, the reasons for them and their consequences. Bin Laden addresses "the Americans" on the tape.

The Qatari-based channel did not say how it had received the tape nor how it had concluded that it was authentic.

The channel has previously broadcast audio and video tapes from members of al-Qaida.

Bin Laden accuses US President George W Bush of reacting slowly to the September 11 attacks, saying: ''I never thought that the supreme leader would leave 50,000 of his people in the two towers to face the terrifying events alone at the time they were in need for him.''

He refers to next week's US elections, telling Americans: "Your security is not in the hands of (Democratic candidate John) Kerry or Bush or al-Qaida. Your security is in your own hands ....''

He also accuses President Bush of "misleading'' the American people four years after the September 11 attacks.

Osama bin Laden, in the video broadcast on Al-Jazeera television, clearly claims responsibility for the attacks, saying "we decided to destroy towers in America.''

Osama bin Laden said the United States was attacked because "we are a free people ... and we want to regain the freedom of our nation.''early Wednesday evening.

Didn't he threaten another attack as well? I heard on Newsnight that people are saying he's bluffing, which makes me think that none of us are going to be ready for it if it happens.

Ultimately, we do have to give a fuck. You have to remember that the threat from these rag heads can fuck us all up. It's easy to think that we're safe in this country from terrorists but these rag heads are a canny bunch. I don't think the world could survive another world war, too much of western culture is tied into commerce and the ecconomy - prime targets for terrorists. Bush and Blair are acting like school bully's throwing their weight around with nations who's beliefs they do not agree with.

I know that a good few thousand innocent people died in the Twin Towers atrocity and it could be argued that Bush was right to retaliate. However, in the bombing runs on Afghanistan that followed it was estimated that nearly 250,000 arabic innocents were wiped out. You have to ask yourself where it will all end.

My favourite part of the statement was this:

I think the timing of this videotape is spot on and fingers crossed it will dissuade the majority of American voters from voting for Bush. I think there is much more of a chance of a peaceful world with Kerry in office because he would most probably go about duties less cack-handed than the current president.

Bin Laden is a terrorist, and terrorists like to cause fear. Terrorists don't actually give a shit who rules the country. I know you all like to say this and that about each side, but the fact is, neither Bush or Kerry want to help Bin Laden. By mentioning both sides, he gives the idea to each that he supports the other side. and what does this do?

It creates Fear, uncertainty, and doubt.

Regardless of who's in office, if theres going to be an attack, there will be one.

He doesn't mention Allah. He doesn't mential infidels. He mentions only things that he knows will be eaten in a liberal feeding frenzy.

There is a reason behind this. It plays into Bush's only real strength: the war on terror.

Everyones gonna be all scared now and say we need Bush cause he likes to blow people up...

For some reason Bin Laden is trying to confuse America. BushKerryBushKerry.

None of this is the real issue. Smoke and mirrors all the way. The americans and other western allies are simply manouveruing for a better foothold in the east (nearer china and russia). It would be far easier and there would be less blood shed if we just switched to electric cars and stopped eating so much shit.

Exactly, with China becoming the main world port of the future Bush just wants to build an oil pipe through the middle East leading to China. September 11th was just an excuse for him to further his holding over these areas. The real threat is Bush getting re-elected.

What makes you think he's not as powerful? Because he doesn't have an army? It only takes one or two blokes and a bomb to kill loads of people. If Bin Laden had a few people like that in every country he could fight a war without a battlefield
